Food & Wine is my passion – and luckily also my job.
Add to this my love of great rugby – and the idea for a Food & Wine pairing website was born over a pint of Guinness for some and a glass of Argentinian Malbec for me at Twickenham. If you’ve ever wondered about what wine you should – or even better – could! – pair with various foods – then Love Wine Food will give you with a wide range of suggestions from around the World to tempt and experiment with.
If you’ve bought some pheasant and no idea what wine to drink with it – or you’ve been given a heavenly bottle of Barbaresco and want to find the best recipe to show it off – you’ve come to the right place! If you’d like to get in touch , I’d love to hear from you! Do take a look at our range of Wine Tours for 2026 And my book Watercress, Willow & Wine, a celebration of recipes and wines from English vineyards is now released and available to order now.

A fabulous evening at the wonderful, welcoming bistro @auvieuxcomptoir in Paris. Delicious snails dripping in garlic butter, onglet perfectly cooked blue, and an impeccable Paris Brest. As always a lovely buzzy atmosphere with super friendly service.
On the vinous front, (a tempting range on the wine list!) , a glass of Crozes Hermitage Blanc for PJ, and Menetou Salon pour moi. Then a delectable Gevrey Chambertin from Domaine Trappet, youthful with nervy energy, bursting with raspberry and crunchy texture of cranberries -heaven! Oh, and the Armagnac, a perfect end!
Not our first visit and certainly won`t be the last. (Paris for dinner on a Tuesday - great start to the week!)

Burns Night at home called for a new malt to try, so delighted to open the Seven Wood from @jurawhisky
Aged in ex bourbon American white oak, before finishing off in French oak from six different regions. Very appealing on the nose, spice & orange undertones on the palate, with a discreet slightly sweet chocolate finish.
Of course, there had to be Haggis, so @macsweenhaggis was crumbled, rolled into small balls, coated with oats and pan fried till outside crispy. Decided to have a year away from the trad neeps & tatties, so instead roasted squash & shallots with earthy lentils, topped with haggis meatballs. A good alternative.
Pudding was simple, fresh raspberries dipped in chocolate, served with frozen kefir, oaty biscuits and bee pollen. Was perfect with the Jura!

Perhaps not quite the joy of Padington`s Marmalade Day, but oh the utterly fabulous discovery this week of the first blood oranges of the year in our local market in Petersfield.
The citrus season is such a bright spot in the sometimes dark days of January,. The intemse uplifting aromas that spring from the flesh as you cut into the dark hues ranging from crimson to carmine. The sweet fresh juice that reminds me of happy mornings in Sicily, with its radiant colour.
Such an optimistic way to start the day!

Yesterday was one of my saddest days of the year ( and yes am aware that 2026 is a mere 6 days old!) -taking down of the Christmas tree.
But cheered by the memory of many cosy evenings curled up watching her twinkling lights. Also oddly soothed by the ritual of packing away her decorations, so many of them bought on our travels, so each one tenderly wrapped in paper whilst reflecting on past holidays. Plus do love the reassuring feeling of good traditions, putting the decorations away for another year, knowing how excited I will be to open and unwrap them all in another 329 days.

As we welcome in the New Year, it`s also a time for quiet reflection on 2025, both the good and the bad.
Thus to inspire hope for 2026 , an image from one of my happiest days of last year, swimming for hours in this beautiful sun dappled blue sea in Sicily. I take this with me into the New Year to remind me that the simplest things in nature have the power to calm, to refocus, to ground us and to remember the important things in life.
Wishing you all a wonderful New Year full of love, peace and laughter.

Drain @belazu_co chickpeas, coat with smoked paprika & pinch of celery salt plus EVOO, roast for 20 mins.
Mix hummus (it`s Tuesday lunchtime, of course i did not make my own!), with greek yoghurt.
Layered all up with crushed pistachios, chopped flat leaf parsley & poppy seeds.

Busy designing a German Wine Tour for Private clients yesterday, so last night seemed appropriate to open a bottle of Riesling!
One of my favourite white grape varieties, this was very drinkable, lovely fresh fruit, lively but balanced acidity. Nothing too complicated but ideal for a Monday evening! Know should not be swayed by labels, but the beauty of this on a bottle of Langhe Arneis - irresistable!
This white wine named Srej, from Piemonte dialect meaning a wood of oak trees, is from the Arneis grape variety. Lovely notes of pears on the nose, slight hint of hazelnut on the finish. Beautiful expression of Arneis.

A week of contrasts. After the crisp Piemontese white earlier this week, last night`s wine at LWF HQ was the sumptuous Brune & Blonde Cote Rotie from @domaineguigal
Mostly Syrah with just a splash (4%) of Viognier , this velvety Rhone red was the perfect choice for a rainy, dark November evening.
From vineyards perilously perched on the steep slopes above the banks of the Rhone river, this small appellation produces some of the most glorious, intense, seductive wines. Lovely notes of blackberries, hint of vanilla and warming spices. Autumn, we welcome you!

There are two ways my "wine" brain works on a wet dark November evening. Grab a bottle of warming Syrah, the snuggly blanket and let the evening drift in Autumn cosiness. Or as last night, needed the brightness of a beautiful crisp white to fill me with zest and energy for an evening of kitchen pootling.
The grape variety Favorita, in this case from the Langhe in Piemonte, from the Cantina del Nebbiolo, has a citrus freshness, very appealing, with slightly herbal finish. Just the ticket for a dark Tuesday!

Pre festive stock cupboard clear out combined with testing new recipe at the weekend.
Love cannelloni but each time forget the faff of stuffing them, but box of tubes balefully looking at me from back of the cupboard, so decided to try out a stuffing inspired by some festive flavours, namely cranberry and chestnuts.
Fried a leek & pork mince, lots of warming nutmeg, threw in a large handful of crimson cranberries, chopped chestnuts, sage, rosemary. Off the heat, stir in ricotta till right consistency. Made bechamel, heavy on the parmesan, layered the stuffed pasta tubes between two duvets of the sauce. Bake for 35 mins at 180.
Worth the faff of stuffing! Delicious, the cranberries giving a pop of freshness to the rich sauce and underpinned by the earthy chestnuts.

A long lazy lunch with a close friend on a miserly grey day was the perfect place to be yesterday.
@bluesardinia in Guilldford have just won Best Italian Wine List outside of Italy at the recent Milan Wine Week, an Award well deserved for their well curated list
So we kicked off with Prie Blanc variety, planted in Valle d`Aosta from @cave_mont_blanc , lovely freshness with hints of sage, and was perfect with Vitello Tonnato
Onto traditional Sardinian pasta Malloreddus, the fennel in the ragu, was perfect with Rabaja 2019 Barbaresco Bruno Rocca (it`s been a Barbaresco kind of week!). Also matched happily with fegato alla salvia.
But we also needed something Sardinian to celebrate with the Sardinian owners of this delightful restaurant, so step up a long-time favourite, Turriga from @argiolaswinery such silky tannins and incredible finish.
Sheer heaven. Grazie mille and Congratulations Jonathan & Cinzia at Blue Sardinia.

Love working at wine festivals, but it`s a killer on the feet ( how old does that make me sound?! ). . So heavenly at the weekend to relax afterwards with a brilliant evening at @dopposoho
An amazing wine list but their fabulous Sommelier instinctively saw we were in need of instant pick me ups! Cue couple of glasses of Champagne, my favourite by far , the @eglyouriet which had an incredible depth of flavour and character (bubbles seemed almost incidental). Interesting white from @domainedupelican_jura before vinous star of the evening, the 2014 Riserva Rabaja Barbaresco from Bruno Rocca. Seductive, ethereal, teasing with more flavours evolving in each glass - pure heaven.
Went French with dessert to Sauternes from @chateausuduiraut , bursting with honied notes of marmalade on toast!
The food you ask? Well obviously delicious at this fabulous Soho restaurant, tagliatelle for me this time with the ragu of Yorkshire longhorn, for PJ a seasonal Trofie pasta with pumpkin. Perfectly executed venison & fillet steak as mains. There was a desert for PJ, which he jealously guarded, so no taster allowed!!
Retreating downstairs for coffee, sat at the window watching people dash through the rain in the neon lit lane, generously appeared a glass of 1985 Colheita from @kopke1638 , gloriously autumnal notes of persimmons and nutmeg, with touch of vanilla.
The perfect antidote after a hard day working a wine festival!!
